About

Hello, fellow photo nerds! I’m Doug Hagar, a mediocre passionate film photographer hailing from the city of Ottawa, Ontario. In this digital age, where pixels dominate, I find inspiration in the nostalgic charm of 35mm and medium format film photography.

From the moment I held my first film camera in high school, I was entranced by the magical process of capturing light on emulsion. As time went on, my love for the art form deepened, and my collection of cameras grew. Each piece holds its own story, and with every click of the shutter, I cross my fingers and hope I didn’t f** it up too badly endeavor to create visual tales that resonate with others.

This blog is my attempt to document my film journey, sharing the highs and lows of my experiences, discoveries, and adventures in the world of analog photography. I’ll be diving into the nuances of both 35mm and medium format film formats, exploring their unique aesthetics and quirks, all the while reviewing the products that enhance this craft.

I understand the irony of sharing all this film content digitally through blogs and instagram, but hey,… deal with it. This may also just be about making me feel better about wasting spending money on something you can do with any old smartphone in your pocket.

Thank you for joining me on this voyage.
